If you own a car or a van then you need to ensure that you keep up with the maintenance on it. Many issues arise from vehicles that have not properly been maintained and sometimes these issues could have been avoided or at least lessened had they of been picked up earlier.
Each car is given a service schedule dependant on the make, model and engine. This service schedule will tell you at what mileage or what age of the vehicle certain work needs to be carried out such as an oil change or cam belt change. If services are missed then these parts or fluids will start to deteriorate and this is often when issues occur. Obviously maintaining a vehicle is not cheap but if you skimp on maintenance then you may end up having to pay out a lot more in repairs.
Make sure that you always take your vehicle to a reputable garage to carry out any repairs or maintenance and always check if they are going to use genuine parts. Some garages will fit non genuine parts if you ask them too but be wary when it comes to cam belts etc as they may not be as good quality and fail.
