F1 or Formula One racing is a very popular sport in the UK. The UK have been lucky enough to have some fantastic drivers competing for us such as Nigel Mansell, Jason Button and Lewis Hamilton.
Over the years the rules of F1 have changed dramatically, partly due to safety aspects but sometimes to try and make the racing fairer and to give other drivers a chance of winning.
The safety car is something that is bought out if there has been an incident in the race which means it is too unsafe for the cars to continue racing as they were.
Some people believe that the way in which the safety car is used makes it unfair especially to the drivers who are winning. When the safety car is bought out all drivers must maintain a speed behind it meaning if the leader had a 10 second lead on 2nd place, this would soon be lost after following the safety car and allowing 2nd place to catch up.
